We had a grass fire in the hay paddock at Olga caused by jumper lead terminals arcing. Carmel Peter and I were right there but it got away from us in no time at all. Beating it had little or no effect.
A passing helicopter landed and the pilot gave Peter a lift to his grader while Carmel and I went to refill the water tank from a bore drain some miles away. The chopper guy landed again by us and gave a hand. A scary experience, but fortunately we were safe. Peter skirted the area with grader to confine it. It burnt through till the next day. Fortunately the fire did not reach the baled hay.
