Cobar NSW
Because of the cold we decided to head north and miss the SE corner of Vic. Travelling along quite nicely and then just stopped about 120Ks out of Cobar at Mt Hope. Spent two nights on the side of the road and some lovely people Cheryl and Pete Mackintosh knew just who to get to help us. We got going ok and thought all was well.
Well, we stopped at the BP in Cobar and after spending over $600 we were unable to start the bus and there we remained till well after dark and after their closing time blocking one whole line of bowsers. We had fuel problems on the way to Cobar but thought we had overcome them, ---- Noooooooooo we had not. Several people helped and eventually we got going down the road to where the Cobar sign is and a quite nice rest stop for the night. Next morning we set off again determined to reach warmer climes - got a few hundred meters up the hill on the main highway and conked out again. Arthur had to run it backwards with no power steering and did very well until it got the better of him and jack knifed but we were safely off the road and in the rest area backwards against a bank with no damage. Couldn't open the engine cover which is a lift up affair at the back of the bus. Solved that one, took the door off had just enough room to squeeze a spanner in and undo the bolts. We had to wait till Tuesday to get the fuel filters we required (we had been issued with the wrong ones previously). Once we sorted the fuel problems out our bus batteries had packed it in so another $800+ later we finally got going. We headed directly north and heaved a great sigh of relief when we crossed the Qld border. This is a much abridged version of the story.
